Từ ven biển đến đất liền: Mở rộng nghề nuôi tôm thích ứng biến đổi khí hậu ở Bangladesh. Phần 22

Thực tiễn nghề nuôi tôm ở vùng Bagerhat thuộc duyên hải Bangladesh dễ bị tổn thương trước sự biến đổi khí hậu. Tác động của biến đổi khí hậu đối với nuôi tôm là do các biến số khí hậu khác nhau, bao gồm độ mặn, ngập lụt ven biển, lốc xoáy, nước biển dâng, nhiệt độ nước, hạn hán và lượng mưa. Có bằng chứng chắc chắn cho rằng các biến số khí hậu khác nhau có ảnh hưởng nghiêm trọng đến hệ sinh thái của các trang trại nuôi tôm cũng như sản xuất tôm.

Để thích ứng với biến đổi khí hậu, có rất nhiều cơ hội lớn để chuyển đổi nghề nuôi tôm từ Bagerhat đến Gopalganj, nơi dường như ít bị tổn thương trước  biến đổi khí hậu hơn. Một loạt các yếu tố, bao gồm các nguồn tài nguyên sinh lý thuận lợi, các hoạt động nuôi trồng thủy sản, tiếp cận tôm bột, thức ăn sẵn có, tiếp thị tôm và nuôi trồng thân thiện với môi trường sẽ có tác động tích cực đến việc mở rộng nuôi tôm đến Gopalganj. Mô hình đa canh tôm – cá chép và mô hình nuôi trồng kết hợp tôm – cá – lúa tại Gopalganj sẽ có tiềm năng lớn trong việc gia tăng hoặc duy trì sản xuất cũng như thu nhập từ xuất khẩu ở Bangladesh.

Tuy nhiên, có nhiều thách thức liên quan đến chuyển đổi nuôi tôm đến Gopalganj, bao gồm thiếu nguồn cung cấp tôm bột, chi phí sản xuất cao, dịch bệnh, thiếu kiến ​​thức về kỹ thuật và sản lượng thấp. Những thách thức này phải được giải quyết để phát triển bền vững nghề nuôi tôm ở Gopalganj. Việc tiếp cận với tôm bột chất lượng cao sẽ giúp mở rộng nghề nuôi tôm. Tôm bột được ương nuôi sẽ cần thiết để đáp ứng nhu cầu. Nông dân cũng cần phải nâng cao kiến ​​thức kỹ thuật về mô hình đa canh tôm – cá chép và mô hình nuôi trồng kết hợp tôm – cá – lúa. Một số nhân tố về thể chế, bao gồm nhận thức của cộng đồng, dịch vụ khuyến nông, chương trình tập huấn, hỗ trợ tín dụng và hỗ trợ kỹ thuật sẽ giúp ích cho nông dân áp dụng nuôi tôm ở Gopalganj.
